Recently, the National Bureau of Statistics released the Statistical Communique on the 2017 National Economic and Social Development of the People's Republic of China. The communiqué shows that the added value of industrial strategic emerging industries above designated size in the whole year increased by 11.0% over the previous year. The added value of high-tech manufacturing [12] increased by 13.4%, accounting for 12.7% of the industrial added value above designated size. The value-added of equipment manufacturing industry [13] increased by 11.3%, accounting for 32.7% of the industrial added value above designated size. The output of new energy vehicles reached 690,000 units, an increase of 51.2% over the previous year; the output of smart TVs was 96.66 million units, up 3.8%; the output of industrial robots was 130,000 units, up 81.0%; the output of civilian unmanned aerial vehicles was 2.9 million units , an increase of 67.0%.
Among them, IC production has increased significantly in the past two years. After growth of 21.2% in 2016, the growth rate was still 18.7% last year.

State Council Premier Li Keqiang pointed out in his government work report this year that it will promote the development of five major industries, including integrated circuits, fifth generation mobile communications, aircraft engines, new energy vehicles and new materials, when referring to "accelerating the building of a powerful nation." Among them, the integrated circuit came in first place.
